Stand up. Stand out.

The last year has been tough for a lot of us. 

Too many of us are questioning our role in our union chapter.

I’ve heard from so many of you that are disappointed, frustrated, or disgusted by the way faculty, professionals, and contingents have been treated.

The time has come for us to stand up, united, to stand out and to speak up and speak out for our contractual rights.

The time has come to ensure that all of our colleagues are treated with dignity and respect. 


Meet Alex


Over the past few years, I have worked with many of you on committees and special projects. I’m the loud, outspoken guy!

I love my job and I love our campus. I am proud to be part of a dedicated team of faculty and professionals that cares about doing what is right.

However, too often, as I have heard from so many of you, management is either not listening or does not hear us. For many years, I worked closely with administration on our campus. I know their playbook well… and I know how they operate. But the time has come for change.

We are not a trucking company. We are an institution of higher education. We are smart people. We deserve a fair shot at having a voice at the table to advocate for us, to stand up for us, and to ensure that our colleagues are being treated fairly, with dignity and respect.

I humbly thank you for your support and for your votes. I look forward to working with you to create a new future for the Alfred Chapter.





Our chapter represents nearly 500 professionals, academics, and contingents. Our voice is important, but it has been fragmented and suppressed. It’s time to use our voice. It’s time to speak up and speak out.

As your chapter president, I pledge to strive to meet the following in a transparent, inclusive, and participatory manner:

diversity & Inclusion

Recent efforts to form an LGBTQ+ chapter committee were suppressed. To stand united, we must welcome everyone in our chapter to participate and advocate for our collective contractual rights.

increased participation

No one can do it alone. Together, as an energized and activated group of faculty, professionals, and contingents, we can use our collective voice and influence as a force for positive change. 

vocal representation

We are part of one of the largest labor organizations in the country. It’s time to start using the resources that are available to us to ensure that none of our chapter members are intimidated, sidelined, or maligned.

equity & Fairness

Transparency is a key facet of fair leadership. We have the right and responsibility to govern our chapter, and to work with Faculty Senate, University Faculty Senate, and other key institutions to ensure that our chapter members are being treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
